There was once a man who believed in God. His name is Caleb, and his name means “whole heart”.
As the Israelites had escaped from Egypt, the place of their enslavement, they camped and waited to cross into their promised land. However, the promised land wasn’t just an empty land filled with trees. It was filled with people too. As their leader, Moses sent twelve spies into the promised land to see what the land was like. The spies were to come back and report everything they discovered in this new land. Caleb was one of the men sent.
After surveying the land, all of the men came back to the camp where Moses and the rest of the Israelites were. The men told of how great the land was, how it flowed with milk and honey. They also spoke of how big and strong the cities were and the people in them.
Caleb interrupted them silencing them. He said, “Let us go up at once and posses it, for we are well able to overcome it.” (Numbers 13:30)
