I am a mommy to three wonderful kids, ages six, four and nearly two. I also happen to be married to an amazing man who has a huge heart for kids and for loving others unconditionally. I live in the suburbs of Chicago, but I am originally from upstate New York. I’ve lived in many different states, but moving here to Chicago was hard. However, I have finally made my peace with God living in a big city.
Believing God at His Word has changed my life. Because of that, I desire that people experience the transformational power of Him. And this is why: the more I personally believe in Gods promises, the less I believe the lies fed to me by the world and the evil one. Those lies have come close to destroying me. But God’s truth brings me life and peace.
When I first started writing, I dealt with huge, debilitating fear. I didn’t believe that my voice mattered. I couldn’t speak in front of a crowd of ten, much less share my most intimate thoughts with anyone who came to my blog. But God has helped me climb that mountain of fear and overcome it. Yes, some days I still deal with believing the power that fear may have on me. But it does not hold the grip over me that it did for many years. I choose to believe God when He says “I tell you the truth, If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)
My other passions are vulnerability, prayer and community.
Vulnerability. God gave me the “super power” , if you will, of vulnerability. Or you could call it a “super weakness”. This means I may cry in front of a crowd of a hundred, or I may feel foolish and weak when I share a personal story, but God’s power is made strong through weakness. My desire is to point to Him, not to myself. And if He can use my insecurities or weaknesses for Him, I praise Him for it. I also believe and have experienced that when women are vulnerable and real with each other, truth reigns, relationships are formed, and bondages are broken.
Prayer. There is power in prayer. God listens to each and every word we speak to Him. My utmost desire is to live a prayerful life by praying through everything. God desires to be our best friend. We can talk to Him when we are struggling through the darkness or when we can’t seem to thank Him in the midst of the mundane. He listens and He answers. It is not irreverent to talk to Him about everything. We can know that He wants to hear us. I am so thankful that we can pray to a God that has ears that hear and eyes that see. Its not just super spiritual people He listens to. He listens to us all! “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” (Jeremiah 33:3)
Community. We flourish when we are in community with each other. I desire that every woman is a part of a community so that she feels known and loved. When we live in community, we experience the physical hands and feet of Jesus. We are Jesus’s body when we love each other and take care of one another. We were not made to do life alone, but in community with one another.
That’s me in a nutshell! In my free time, I love coffee, tinkering with spiritual art journaling, and going on adventures with my husband and kids.
